Tote Bin Trial

We’re currently testing the viability of using tote bins to deliver orders to selected customers. The trials, if successful, will go a long way to reduce the amount of transit packaging that is used because the tote bins are fully re-usable. Conservative estimates are that they can be used at least 100 times to deliver orders.

The initial part of the trial has been completed and results are encouraging. The tote bins will travel through our highly automated Distribution Centres with very few issues and these can all be addressed simply.

We have some carefully chosen partners to help us continue the evaluation when we move to the next phase, delivery to customers. As part of the trial we will also be investigating how we can make sure the tote bin stays in circulation. 

We genuinely believe this will be a real step forward in our environmental offering as it removes all forms of disposable packaging from the supply chain. When this is introduced we think it could save a minimum 10% of disposable packaging used.
